A love letter to my Senior Rep Team

Class of 2026 Senior Rep Team at the Grand Galvez in Galveston, Texas.

What exactly is a senior rep program and how is it going to help me? I asked myself the exact same thing while sitting at my desk last year as a high school journalism teacher. Feeling stuck. Questioning everything. Dreaming up a hundred ways to take my photography full time.

If you’ve never heard of a Rep Team and you’re a new photographer trying to carve out space in a crowded market, I hope you’re listening. You’re hustling to stand out, caught between industry vets with a decade of experience and high school grads offering bargain prices you can’t match because, well… life is expensive. Sound familiar?

Starting a Rep Team won’t fix everything overnight, but it does help. This is my very first group, and I already feel the momentum they’re creating. When I stop and think about what this team is helping me build (not just in business, but in community) I honestly get emotional.

So… what is a Rep Team?

At its core, it’s a group of girls who actively promote my photography business in exchange for photos. They get a discounted senior session, I get willing models who trust me and go along with my wild ideas. That’s the simplest way to explain it but honestly, it’s much more than that.

Here is what they don’t know

What they don’t know is what it took to even put this out there.

When I first launched my Rep Program last January, I was terrified. I kept thinking: β€œThere are a million photographers in Houston, why in the world would these girls pick me?”

Every post inviting girls to apply gave me anxiety. But I pushed through and in the end over 20 girls applied. Girls from all over Greater Houston. Sweet, thoughtful, beautiful girls. I was blown away. God is so good.

To them, it’s just fun. They get to be part of styled shoots, make new friends, and do something different their senior year. But what they may not fully realize is how much their support has changed my life.

Every time they post about our sessions, share a behind-the-scenes clip, or tell a friend about their experience it matters more than they know. Their support is everything.

So yeah, you should do it. You should start a Rep Team.

Maybe you won’t get that many applicants. But I tell you what, I would have been happy with five and you never know what can happen.

Class of 2027 - Applications will open on April 1. You will be able to apply here.
